PickUpPort™

Overview

The basic function of a PickUpPort™ is that the drawer is secured by an electrical lock. AutoStore controls the port logic so that when a bin is available to be opened, the lock is released, and when the bin is closed, the lock is re-engaged as the drawer closes.

By following the following steps, PickUpPort™ operations are optimized for both manual and automated flows, ensuring safety, efficiency, and seamless integration with the WMS. Check

Robot Delivery

A robot autonomously delivers the bin to the designated port.

LED Notification

Upon arrival, the port LED illuminates blue, indicating that the drawer is ready to be accessed.

Drawer Access

The operator may safely open the drawer using the handle and retrieve the goods from the bin.

WMS Communication

Use CaseDescription
SnapLock OperationConcurrently with the manual operation, the WMS plays a critical role. Shortly after the drawer is registered as open by the system, the WMS should send a closebin command.
This ensures that the mechanical snap-lock is engaged. A small delay before sending the closebin command is recommended to prevent the customer from partially triggering the sensor without fully opening the drawer.
Confirmed Pick OperationSend the closebin command when the operator confirms the pick action via a GUI (external screen, or similar interface). The drawer may be closed either before or after this confirmation. Use the drawer status LED to guide the operator to close the drawer and to provide feedback once it is securely locked (see LED Status Guide below).

Closing Mechanism

After removing the goods, the operator must close the drawer. A built-in damping mechanism ensures a controlled closing motion, requiring additional force to fully engage the lock. The handle must be used for this action—do not push or pull the drawer by the frame.

Completion Signal

Once the drawer is fully closed and the bin closure is acknowledged by the WMS, the LED above the port turns off, indicating that the drawer is securely locked.

Robot Retrieval

The robot retrieves the bin and returns it to its storage position in the grid.
